On May 19 Sunday, Tom and I were invited to go to world premiere of The Garfield Movie at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood. Yup, that’s right. Garfield the cat. I remember reading Garfield comics on the Los Angeles Times newspaper when I was younger. I personally have not seen any other Garfield movies, but I was excited because Tom’s work had helped with the production of the movie, and Tom will be in the credits!

We showed up past 11 AM when the movie begins around 1 PM. We went through will call, and the orange carpet (yup, instead of the red carpet) was right next to it. However, a big part of it was blocked off by the giant orange wall with the promotional picture of Garfield and many company logos as the background. We couldn’t go on the orange carpet, though, because we did not have any access to it. Therefore, we were not able to see any celebrities like Chris Pratt or even the Garfield creator Jim Davis. It’s okay.

The TCL Chinese Theatre was beautiful on the outside and inside. There was a lot of things to see in the theatre itself, but I could not take my time because it was getting very crowded inside. I managed to get some photos of the concession stand that had screenshots from the movie and the ceiling with the paintings and the lights, though.
So I won’t be giving any spoilers of the movie! You have to watch it yourself. I can tell you that it is a very cute movie, though. I had to take photos of the end credits when Tom’s name showed up, and Azuki (yes, our corgi) also showed up as one of the Production Pets! I am so proud of them.

The After Party
Tom and I were also invited to check out the after party. There were random booths to check out to advertise their sponsors like Roborock and La-Z-Boy. We also saw the Garfield mascot walking around, and I just knew I had to get a photo with it. It was so hard to get a photo, though, since all these kids started to crowd around. However, I still managed to get a photo because I knew that I will miss the chance if I didn’t do that. Sure enough, we didn’t see the mascot again for the rest of the event. We did see the director Mark Dindal from a distance, though, so that was cool.
After party food is something that Tom and I often look forward to just because we love food. We had lasagna (you know this was a must), spaghetti, chicken tenders, fries, some vegetables like salad, and Garfield’s favorite dessert from the movie, butterscotch budino. I never had butterscotch budino, and I can tell you that I am not a fan. Maybe it is the rum flavor that caught me off guard, but I did not like it. Sorry, Garfield. More for you. I did like the lasagna, so I am happy to say that it was good.
It was so fun to go to a movie premiere with Tom again since we haven’t been to one since before Covid times. I hope the movie does decent when it comes out on Thursday in the United States. Go watch it!
