Levain Bakery Cookies Review

Levain Bakery Cookies Review

If you knew me since middle school, then you may have seen me eat four chocolate chip cookies for lunch sometimes. Those cookies cost 25 cents each back then, and those were a cheap way to have something to eat. Plus I get to save the remaining lunch money from my mom each day. Why am I telling you this story? Well, I think that was the beginning of me being a cookie snob.

You see, sometimes the cookies would be hard because they have been out in the cold for a while. Sometimes the cookies would be too soft because the cafeteria workers underbaked them. Then sometimes the cookies would be just right when they are crispy on the edges and still soft in the center, and that is exactly how I like my cookies.

I saw Levain Bakery ads targeting me recently, and I have been curious how they are like. Levain Bakery claims that their chocolate chip cookies are the best in New York. They have a store here in Los Angeles, right at Larchmont Village, but I didn’t feel like driving all the way for it. Besides, Larchmont Village isn’t easy to find parking. I only went there once or twice via Metro light rail trains and busses once, and that was enough for me. Anyway, these cookies were not cheap, like a 4-pack is about $29, so I was kind of hesistant. Then one day they advertised they have a coupon code for free shipping, and that made me curious enough to purchase a 12-pack. (I later found out that it was free shipping for a 12-pack anyway – oops!) I chose a delivery date, and today it delivered.

Holy crap

That was my first thought when I saw the box. The box was huge. Then I opened the box, and the cookies are giant. I may have overdone it with buying 12 cookies. I definitely would not be able to eat four of these in one sitting. I ate one lemon cookie earlier, and that was very filling for me already. It had the texture that I enjoy, but they are thick! Was it worth it? Yes, especially since I ended up sharing a good majority of them with my coworkers.
